Updates!!

I think a Spring recap is in order now that its summer!!

April Meeting:

  • Cookbook sales are going very well! There are more available if needed
  • Many attended the McConnell regional meeting and were impressed by Senator McConnell's continuing desire to listen to the needs of our area
  • Sarabeth Gregory was our guest speaker and entertained us all with tales from the recent KY legislative session; Pensions, hemp legalization and the new dropout age, Oh my!!
  • We went over all of the upcoming events including volunteers needed for voter registration, upcoming Reagan Day dinner in Lexington, and Johnson County Brunch
May/June Meeting:

  • Karen Kelly will meet with us on July 14 discussing Camp Unite and raising funds for scholarship(s).  Please check out the program here
  • We will meet Sunday June 30 at April's house to plan and strategize- put on your thinking caps- we need to talk about fundraising and recruitment
  • In August we will meet to plan our club's activities in the upcoming National Convention
  • Recruitment! Are you telling your friends about our club?  Becoming an associate member?
  • The voter registration turned out well!

March Meeting recap

Here's a quick recap of our March Meeting: 

1) We are in the process of forming a website committee. Anyone interested in being on this committee please contact April, Allison, or Jen.


 2) Our community service project is in the works as we are helping high school students register to vote- How exciting! Do you remember your first time voting? I'd love to hear every one's experience in the comment section below.


3) Our next meeting will be April 15 at the McGinnis gate house at 6:30. The young republicans group will be joining us and Sara Beth Gregory will be our guest. The menu includes assorted appetizers, prime rib, broccoli casserole, pineapple casserole, pasta salad, romaine salad, hummingbird cake, & pie. If you're planning on attending please RSVP to April and bring a dish if you'd like.


 4) If you haven't picked up your cookbooks to sell yet you may contact Jen or April. They turned out great! They are priced at $15 and are nice hardback binders with many great recipes. (Please note the bookmarks need to be placed in the appropriate section!)




 5) The Johnson County brunch and Fayette Reagan Dinner are scheduled for April 27. There are 4 more seats available for the Reagan Dinner in Lexington at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort. We'd love to have a full table. The silent auction is at 6:00 and dinner is at 7:00. The Johnson County brunch will be at the Ramada Inn Paintsville, KY at 11:30 am.

First Meeting of 2013

2013 promises to be an exciting year for our party and our club!

We rang in 2013 with a dinner and meeting at The McGinnis Gate House on January 28.  Thanks to Connie for being such a terrific hostess and thanks to all members who attended! We feasted on prime rib and got down to business.


  • Tammy Shepherd was elected to be our Treasurer.  In case you have yet to pay your dues please do so soon.  You may make your check out to EKRW.

  • Our meeting time for 2013 will be the first Monday of the month- Please mark your calendars!

  • Please visit lrc.ky.gov for up to date news concerning Kentucky legislature.

  • The cookbook we all worked so diligently on is finished! We all reviewed the proof and its on it way to the press.

  • Spring is a very busy time of the year for us- Please take note of the calendar on the sidebar.  Here are dates of upcoming events we know of.  (For more info please click the contact button on the sidebar.)

  • February 12- KFRW Legislative Day- Wear Red!!
  • March 7-9 NFRW Spring Board Meeting & Legislative Day
  • April 27- Fayette County Reagan Dinner
  • May 18- KFRW Fundraising Fashion Show & Luncheon

The Johnson County Lincoln Day Brunch will be coming up soon and a date will be posted shortly.
